Most of my domains are through 000domains which i do love their speed and support but to be honest i now do it all from home its cheaper more reliable and its easier to monitor attacks. Its also funner (if thats a word) to try and track the hackers back through all the proxies and then attack them its like a mini wargame |

Switched for shared) leet, I agree. The only problem with that is that it's less convenient and a lot of us aren't tech savvy enough to do it ourselves. | |

| For small sites I think A Small Orange is the best choice. It's far more expensive than competition but then again you get much better performance and support than the cheaper ones. They also are better with things that typically are ignored such as maximum mysql connections etc. I ran a rather large scale site (which is now very much dead because I didn't and refused to offer something my competition eventually got) which hosted large files for download and it would basically max out people's connections. It would chug up about 30-40gb of bandwidth a day (some days depending on "large" releases it could go up to 100-120). In any case in my experience it was much busier than other sites I have participated in. I used www.gfxgaming.com as my host. Not very well known but GREAT performance. | |

I no longer touch shared hosting or VPS any longer - if I am not personally in full control of the server, I am not comfortable. The only other irc-friendly hosting companies out of Chicago that I am aware of are Steadfast (expensive) and Sharktech (ISP: Comcast). |
