Here's one for you.

What is your favourite method of monetization on your forum?

It could be the ease of implementing this strategy. How much money it makes you. It's totally up to you.

My favourite has to be adsense. With some great optimization and decent daily traffic it can produce a nice check at the end of the month. Also it is very easy to implement into your forum. Selling ad space came in at a close second.

What about you guys?

I checked my keywords in various PPC systems. The highest were in Bizzclick.com.

So I ask - those who work with this system? They pay?
Or perhaps another PPC recommend?

Have you ever come across one of those ever-common "money-making tips" e-books that are often spammed across forums like DigitalPoint that actually works? They all seem like they are hopeless efforts to make any money. And for the ones that do work, I'd guess that a vast majority of them involve black-hat methods of some sort.

What's your view on these e-books?

I'm always looking for ways to monetize my site without being a distraction to my members. 2 weeks ago I opened an eBay partner account.

I'll back track here, because when you register someone from eBay actually calls you to confirm your account which was impressive.

I created a pave for the eBay items and have been amazed at the results.

I've been making a fair amount of money from it actually 3-5 times as much per day as I am getting from AdSense and I have it separated out to it's own page so its not obnoxious.

If your site has a niche that has products associated with it which are found don eBay I highly recommend this program. It might be the best monetization tool I've found.

They are like an advertising broker (like BuySellAds). You just set up zones on your site for advertisements, and advertisers can bid on the slots; the highest bidder gets the slot.

I just signed up to see how it works. Has anybody used them before? How did it work out?

Somebody recently contacted me asking to advertise on AA. I find it to be an odd request though, because they want a text link on the homepage only, and to link to an online tax filing service.

Here's a portion of the e-mail:

Quote:

Thank you for taking time to review our advertising proposal.

We are interested in placing a text link ad on this page only:http://www.adminaddict.net/

Here is an example of our link:

“Taxes made simple with free tax filing online.”

The word :"tax filing" is the anchor text to be targeted to a specific URL. You can always modify the sentence to fit to your page content, so long, as the anchor text is present.

Is this some kind of scheme to mooch our PageRank or gain a quality backlink, or what? I have no idea what to make of this.

Have a bit of a conundrum here.

1. I want to make some money with site.

2. Not at the expense of the members.

3. 90.28% of my traffic is US based

4. 92.36% of all traffic is from North America.

5. All the current vendors for the most part only support MINI Coopers, the sites subject.

6. I've already turned down some vendors due to fact I don't like their business practices.

That said, I received a request to be a sponsor from a full line company in Greece. I wrote them back including the rates and let then know I thought it may not be the best fit citing the stats above.

They are still interested.

Do I take their money?

Swimmers don't really browse other forums, so I can't use my usual signature-link methods.

Right now, I am advertising at Yahoo! Answers, and while I am getting traffic, it's very slow.

I am considering investing in PPC, but I don't know how well that's going to work.

So how can I traffic to my swimming forum? I want to run a contest to boost traffic - but I need some traffic to start that up first!
