go to vBulletin Options --> Style and Language settings --> and change the
Use Legacy (Vertical) Postbit Template to yes

That should have done the trick. Are you absolutely sure that you followed the flow structure listed below?

AdminCP > vBulletin Options > Style & Language Settings > Use Legacy Postbit > Yes

Perhaps you have accidentally (sometime in the past) pasted the contents of the postbit template into the postbit_legacy template...?

Try viewing your site in the default style and see what you come up with.
