Does anyone here have any experience with Social Networking Softwares? So far the only two I have been able to tinker with are Dolphin and Elgg - are there more out there anyone would recommend?

Preferably free software.

dolphin is very nice, never tried elgg
what applications do you need the software to run? There are loads of scripts that can be social media sites so a little more detail would help narrow it down.

As Brandon said, there are a lot of software out there for social networking. Dolphin is a very nice and useable software, maybe delve into that more and see what you can do with it.

well, there are many free Social networking Softwares available.:)

but i didn't experienced any kind of Social Networking software yet....

try socialengine.net - it's $250, but miles ahead of others for functionality, modules, ease of administration...I had a onesite.com site for $30 a month and dropped it for this one...

I would choose either SocialEngine or PHPFox.
