Back in the day I was a Mario fanatic. I had them all and mastered everyone of them. Spent a number of hours finding all the secrets of each one of them. I could fire up one of them and play from start to end with my eyes closed. No one could come close to beating me. Those were the days.

A lot of PC games are sold by digital download now. With internet speeds the way they are, usually they are fast downloads.

That was one of the first online games I played, me and 2 mates from work used to play after working night shift for a few hours running our own LAN game. Good fun GOTY version of Unreal Tournament. Tried QUAKE later for a while, but thought the maps was not big enough. Unreal was much better, even if it didn't have as good a graphics as Quake!
Battlefield Vietnam - was also a good online game, especially if you took the time and learned to fly the Jets proper like I did. You pretty much owned everyone then on the ground, plus was easy to kill the helicopters. Been playing FreeLancer Discovery mod on and off now, but starting to get bored with it after a few weeks of playing. Mainly because I've played the game to death years ago previously.

I used to play PGA Tour Golf on a console I once had, was good fun. Also used to enjoy a car racing game called Grand Turismo (first one) on the PSP. Your going back some years there though!
First ever game I played? Hmm, I think was a space game named Elite on the Commodore 64. Now your seriously going back some years there, that was also the space game that set the ground for all others that followed, such as the Egosoft X-Games (played them also). Very famous game was Elite for people old enough to remember it, was one of the first (if not the very first) open end games with no ending and was more or less impossible to reach the highest rank of "Elite" status. I managed to reach one rank before it though.

Same old thing again with players in FreeLancer, too many cheaters flying modded ships, that don't fly like they should do. Or they make themselves LAG on purpose (by downloading something, like using uTorrent in the background and setting a download rate to perfection). So you pretty much can't kill them due to them being laggy jumping around the screen when their PING goes up, while they can kill you easy because of it. Same rubbish once again, just like years ago!
Really, the Discovery Mod server should be kicking people if their PING goes over a certain limit, that tool was there years ago for FreeLancer to boot Laggers. Can't understand looking at all the good anti-cheat they already use, while they don't do that. I suspect they don't because they may lose a lot of online players doing it, players they need to keep the numbers up online? But Laggers is the biggest problem on the server and many do it on purpose when fighting. I was fighting one "Outcast" guy last week in a Sabre ship, my ship was twice as agile and he was out-turning me, even when I was using engine kill and strafing on turns. Just a joke, and I told the guy he was a modder as well!
It really miffs you off when your playing fair, your not modding or lagging. Then you get some player coming at you to fight who's modding his ass off! Worst thing is though, on the Discovery Server if you lose a PVP fight your not allowed to re-enter that same system again for the next 4 hours as part of the "Role Playing" rules. So some modder can come into a system you could be doing missions in to earn much needed money, kill you by cheating - forcing you out that system for the next 4 hours. They should scrap that 4 hours rule, it's a stupid one anyhow and doesn't help encourage role play at all. In fact you'll avoid fights if your after staying in that system for example for a good while.
Everyone is flying around in Battleships of late also, they cost a fortune to buy, your talking hundreds of millions that would take you weeks to earn trading none stop. It does nothing for role playing when your in a bog standard normal fighter ship and if killed your out that system for the next 4 hours. And you WILL GET KILLED going against a Battleship in a VHF (Very Heavy Fighter).
Rant over - think that modder tonight was just the last straw for me on the server now.

You had to calculate the angle and velocity of the throw. You could also play in different gravities by changing a setting before you played. I created a mod with qbasic that changed the gravity on every throw to make it harder to calculate the angle and velocity, thus making the game more challenging.
